11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.
12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.
13 Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
14 You are my friends if you do what I command.
15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.
16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit-fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.
17 This is my command: Love each other.

11 내가 너희에게 이러한 말을 한 것은, 나의 기쁨이 너희 안에 있게 하고, 또 너희의 기쁨이 넘치게 하려는 것이다.
12 ○나의 계명은 이것이다. 내가 너희를 사랑한 것과 같이, 너희도 서로 사랑하여라.
13 사람이 친구를 위하여 목숨을 버리면 이보다 더 큰 사랑은 없다.
14 내가 너희에게 명한 것을 다 행하면 너희는 내 친구다.
15 이제부터는 내가 너희를 종이라고 부르지 않겠다. 종은 주인이 무엇을 하는지 알지 못한다. 나는 너희를 친구라고 불렀다. 내가 아버지에게서 들은 모든 것을 너희에게 알려 주었기 때문이다.
16 너희가 나를 택한 것이 아니라, 내가 너희를 택하여 세운 것이다. 그것은 너희가 가서 열매를 맺어, 그 열매가 언제나 남아 있게 하려는 것이다. 그리하여 너희가 내 이름으로 아버지께 구하는 것은 무엇이나 받게 하려는 것이다.
17 내가 너희에게 명하는 것은 이것이다. 너희는 서로 사랑하여라."
