Comfort for God's People
1 Comfort, comfort my people,
says your God.
2 Speak tenderly to Jerusalem,
and proclaim to her
that her hard service has been completed,
that her sin has been paid for,
that she has received from the Lord 's hand
double for all her sins.
3 A voice of one calling:
"In the desert prepare
the way for the Lord 1);
make straight in the wilderness
a highway for our God.2)
4 Every valley shall be raised up,
every mountain and hill made low;
the rough ground shall become level,
the rugged places a plain.
5 And the glory of the Lord will be revealed,
and all mankind together will see it. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken."

희망의 말씀
1 "너희는 위로하여라! 나의 백성을 위로하여라!" 너희의 하나님께서 말씀하신다.
2 "예루살렘 주민을 격려하고, 그들에게 일러주어라. 이제 복역 기간이 끝나고, 죄에 대한 형벌도 다 받고, 지은 죄에 비하여 갑절의 벌을 받았다고 외쳐라."
3 1)한 소리가 외친다. "광야에 주께서 오실 길을 닦아라. 사막에 우리의 하나님께서 오실 큰길을 곧게 내어라.
4 모든 계곡은 메우고, 산과 언덕은 깎아 내리고, 거친 길은 평탄하게 하고, 험한 곳은 평지로 만들어라.
5 주의 영광이 나타날 것이니, 모든 사람이 그것을 함께 볼 것이다. 이것은 주께서 친히 약속하신 것이다."
